ABOUT THE BOARD
The Board is Responsible for oversight of the SCPA site including its operations, programming, fundraising, community outreach, and community relations as they relate to our mission.
BOARD MEETINGS
The Board meets every 4-6 weeks to review finances, the SCPA site's needs including personnel issues, project proposals, and to review and concerns from stakeholders.
MEMBERSHIP
The term length for board members is two years for a maximum of three consecutive terms. New members are sought when there is a need for particular skill set.
PRESIDENT
David Ravins
I have lived in Sullivan Canyon for 57 years. Although I have lived many different places, I call Sullivan Canyon my home. When I was seven years old, Alan Ravins, my father, and Dr. Werner Koenig were instrumental in getting a group together to create a riding facility. We did all the work ourselves. I notchied all the fence posts, and helped put them in the ground all around the riding facility. Then we moved on to the main ring. It was a lot of work, but every weekend we would get back to our task. The ring is for the community.
No one person owns or controls SCPA. We are stewards of this unique property in west Los Angeles. My hope is to initiate more school programs, and welcome all and any groups to come and visit the facility. That is my goal as an active board member of Sullivan Canyon Preservation Association.
TREASURER
Brenda Miller
Brenda is a resident of Sullivan Canyon along with her husband, 2 horses and their assortment of English labs and rescue puppies. She is a hunter/jumper rider and enjoys sharing the camaraderie of the sport with fellow horse lovers and neighbors.

Having donated her time to organizations serving underprivileged communities around the world, she is convinced of the unifying nature of her two biggest passions- horses and jazz- to break down barriers and bring people together!
DIRECTOR, COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
Melissa Fleisher
Melissa and her husband split their time between Chicago and Sullivan Canyon, where they have found their dream in the magic and warmth of the Canyon community.
A devoted rider, Melissa is also a former educator with a Master’s degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. Throughout her career, she has dedicated countless hours to nurturing and advocating for children with unique gifts. She is passionate about educational outreach and looks forward to bringing programming to the Canyon.
Melissa is inspired by the transformative power of horses and is committed to expanding opportunities for healing, learning and growth within the Canyon.
DIRECTOR, FUNDRAISING
Alisa Becket
Alisa Becket lives among horses in Los Angeles and is certified in Equine
Guided Coaching through The Reflective Horse® Mastery Program. She
runs equine guided retreats as a form of self-reflection, empowerment and wellness and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Sullivan Canyon Preservation Association. A heart disease survivor, Alisa is committed to helping other women also living with heart disease. She runs a peer led support group at UCLA for women living with heart disease.
Alisa serves on the Board of Advisors for the UCLA Women’s Cardiovascular Center furthering her work in advocacy, education and support. Alisa also has a background in art and consults for arts institutions on development initiatives, donor travel programs and special events and is the mother of two children.

Enzo Der Boghossian
Enzo is a native Californian who was born and raised on the Westside. After attending UC Berkeley as an undergraduate and UCLA Law School, he practiced law for 15 years advising a wide variety of clients in various industries. He now focuses his energy on raising his daughter, an avid equestrian who competes regularly as a hunter/jumper.

You will often find Enzo at Sullivan Canyon watching his daughter ride and chatting with other parents, riders, trainers and neighbors. If you see him, please take a moment to say hello, ask a question or share your thoughts. He is passionate about preserving the Canyon while promoting its equestrian use and is always looking for suggestions on how to improve site user’s experiences.
